BOOK FIVE: THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MEMORY

Stone, sound, and the mycelial spread of a single geometry

The exception, Jarry’s science insists, is worth more than the rule --- one anomalous site tells you more than a thousand ordinary ones. Book Five walks the physical record: apertured stones on every unconnected continent, an acoustically tuned Maltese chamber cut over generations to hit exactly 110 Hz, hunter-gatherers raising twenty-ton pillars before agriculture existed to organize them, obelisk pairs behaving as piezoelectric torsion transducers, and a pyramid geometry that appears, without contact, on every riftline-adjacent landmass on Earth.

The Holed Stone --- A Global Object Class

The Men-an-tol material in the riftline workings section treats the Cornish holed stone as a single instance. It is better understood as one member of a global object class: deliberately or naturally apertured stones, treated as sacred, recurring independently across unconnected culture-areas with three consistent functions rather than one. Passage and healing: a body is crawled or reached through the hole and transformed by the crossing --- at Men-an-tol, women passed through seven times backwards under a full moon for fertility, children nine times naked for rickets, back pain, and consumption, with a guardian spirit (a piskie) held to grant the cure. Binding and oath: two people touch or clasp through the hole and the aperture witnesses or seals the agreement --- Ireland’s holed stones, concentrated at early medieval church sites of the 5th through 16th centuries, worked this way (the Kildare Swearing Stone sealed promises through its aperture, and ribbon-tying at holy wells continues as living practice today), as did Orkney’s Odin Stone for marital vows. Protection: naturally-holed stones --- specifically not carved --- hung over doorways to ward against the Evil Eye and malefic influence, documented independently in British and Finnish folk practice.

The object recurs by different names on every continent where it has been studied: tacita stones in South America, holed stones associated with the Hohokam in North America, torus stones reported in South Africa, museum specimens in Japan. The consistency of function across zero cultural contact is the actual evidence --- not that any single site is powerful, but that a hole deliberately opened in solid matter reliably gets read, across every tradition that produces one, as an aperture to be crossed, witnessed through, or warded by. Never as debris. The Wixárika tsikuri --- the God’s Eye, crossed sticks wound with yarn in a growing diamond pattern, added to yearly by a father for a child’s protection --- belongs to this same family but should be kept distinct from the nierika proper: the nierika is circle-with-central-hole; the tsikuri is cross-with-accumulating-yarn. They share the gift-of-perception function but not the geometry, and the tsikuri’s name (sikɨri) is linguistically rooted in the same word as tau, sun --- the system’s clearest documented case of a cross-form, a solar deity, and a visionary-threshold function bundled into a single word, entirely independent of any Western solar-cross template.

A distinction worth formalizing falls out of this object class: static hole versus dynamic hole. Every object above is a fixed aperture --- entered once, or repeatedly, but held still. The bullroarer (section 9.3) is the inverse case: its hole is not a threshold but a pivot, the fixed nothing a mass spins around to generate the vortex and the sound. Static-hole objects are crossed --- an event, cyclical or one-time. Dynamic-hole objects are orbited --- a sustained process. The distinction maps directly onto the system’s maintenance-versus-tidal framework: a pilgrimage crossing a static threshold is structurally an event, repeated but discrete; spinning a bullroarer is structurally closer to running a tidal generator continuously for as long as the arm keeps moving. The two object classes are the two temporal modes of riftline work embodied in stone and wood.

The Sonic Technologies --- 20,000 Years of Acoustic Riftline Work

The bullroarer --- a flat elongated piece of wood or bone spun on a cord to produce infrasound and low audible frequencies in the Schumann resonance range --- has been documented in archaeological and ethnographic records on every inhabited continent. The oldest confirmed specimens date to approximately 20,000 years ago, placing their origin in the Upper Paleolithic, well before the earliest known complex settlements and long before any of the agricultural civilizations whose emergence the system identifies as early post-phase-lock institutional formations. The bullroarer is therefore a pre-phase-lock technology --- an instrument developed when practitioners still had sufficient direct chronon field access to perceive what the spinning sound was doing and to build tools that did it deliberately.

The physics of the bullroarer are now well understood. The spinning geometry applies rotational torsion to the local electromagnetic field in the frequency range that resonates with the Earth’s Schumann resonance (approximately 7.83 Hz and harmonics) and with the human body’s own torsion field. The sound it produces in the infrasound and low audible range creates standing waves in the cranial cavity that interfere with the default mode network’s coherence --- inducing the reduced Egoform activity that the system identifies as the precondition for chronon field access. The practitioners who developed the bullroarer knew this not as physics but as direct experience: the sound opened something. They built instruments that produced the sound. They used those instruments in ritual contexts for at least 20,000 years. The understanding was practical before it was theoretical.

The wind wand --- the bipyramid form developed by Darrell DeVore in the San Francisco experimental music scene in the latter half of the twentieth century, subsequently used by S.K. Thoth as the Spirit Catcher in his Angel Tunnel prayformances, and most recently employed by Blizzard Entertainment sound designer Michelle Mayer to create the sound of the Voidstorm rift in World of Warcraft: Midnight --- is the bullroarer’s contemporary refinement. The bipyramid geometry adds the explicit shear zone structure: two opposing pyramidal torsion fields meeting at the equatorial fold, the center bar tunable to adjust the shear zone’s resonant frequency. The principle has not changed in 20,000 years. The instrument has been refined. The underlying acoustic riftline mechanism was understood and working in the Paleolithic.

The Dogon Bullroarer and the 110 Hz Multi-Site Confirmation

The Dogon connection between the bullroarer and Sirius provides one of the most precisely documented independent confirmations of the acoustic-riftline link. The Dogon’s fish-shaped bullroarer is called Po --- the same word that names Sirius B, their dark companion star. In Dogon symbolism, Sirius is also described as “the tip of a bullroarer,” and the word “the Roarer” appears for the same stellar reference across Indo-European traditions. A single Dogon word unifies the instrument that opens the riftline, the star that marks the riftline’s astronomical timing, and the stellar body whose gravitational influence organizes the Sigi ceremony’s 60-year maintenance cycle. The Dogon were not making a metaphor. They were naming three aspects of the same phenomenon with the same name because they understood them to be the same thing.

The 110 Hz resonance frequency documented at the Hypogeum of Hal Saflieni is not an isolated finding. Independent acoustic archaeology research (Cook, Pajot and Leuchter, 2008) has identified 110 Hz as a recurring threshold resonance frequency across multiple megalithic sites --- a frequency associated with reduced activity in the brain’s language centers during sustained exposure. The bullroarer’s base tone has been independently measured at approximately 100—110 Hz (an exact harmonic of 440 Hz), with likely infrasonic content below 20 Hz that is detected through the midbrain rather than the ears. The builders of Hal Saflieni and the Paleolithic practitioners who developed the bullroarer were targeting the same acoustic frequency from different technological directions --- one by cutting stone until the space resonated correctly, the other by spinning wood on a cord. Same target, same mechanism, separated by thousands of years. The frequency is not arbitrary. It is the acoustic shear zone frequency --- the resonance at which the boundary between the Egoform’s language-circuit control and the deeper gnosis state becomes most permeable.

Bethe Hagens’ independent research on the bullroarer and its cross-cultural distribution arrives at the same conclusions through a different route, and adds important ethnographic depth. The bullroarer’s cord wind-and-unwind cycle produces a natural bidirectional oscillation --- reversing roughly every five seconds, alternating levogyric and dextrogyric rotation --- making it a physical object that generates the counter-rotation mechanic rather than a metaphor imposed upon one. The ancient Greek word rhombos means both bullroarer and magic wheel, and is the etymological root of rhombus --- which is why Hagens placed the rhombic triacontahedron at the center of her extended Earth grid model. The instrument, the geometric form, and the word for both are the same word. The bullroarer carries the riftline’s geometry in its physics, not just its use.

The Songline Network --- At Least 60,000 Years of Riftline Maintenance

The Australian Aboriginal songline tradition is the oldest continuously operating cultural institution on Earth. Genetic and archaeological evidence places the arrival of the first Australians at approximately 65,000 years ago, and the songline tradition --- the network of paths across the continent that are simultaneously geographic routes, mythological narratives, and musical scores --- is understood within those traditions to have existed since the Dreaming, which is to say since the beginning of human presence on the continent. The tradition has been transmitted continuously, generation to generation, for at least 60,000 years.

The songlines are not a cultural curiosity or a primitive navigational technology. They are, in the system’s framework, the oldest surviving planetary riftline maintenance infrastructure. Each songline maps a geographic path across the continent that corresponds to a riftline corridor in the icosahedral chronon geometry. The specific songs associated with specific locations along the path encode the resonant frequencies of those locations --- the sounds that maintain the fractal boundary complexity of the shear zone against the phase-lock’s smoothing pressure. Walking the path while singing the songs applies the practitioner’s own levogyric biological torsion field to the riftline node, maintains the standing wave patterns that concentrate chronon density there, and keeps the mesogyric exchange active. The tradition understood that if the singing stopped, the country would die. In the system’s terms this is accurate: without sustained levogyric input at the riftline nodes, the dextrogyre pressure of the closed system gradually smooths the fractal boundary, reduces the chronon permeability of the node, and eventually seals it. The songlines are maintenance technology. Their practitioners understood this as well as any engineer understands the infrastructure they maintain.

The colonial destruction of the songline network --- through the removal of Aboriginal peoples from their country, the fencing of the land, the prohibition of traditional practice, and the deliberate suppression of the transmission lineages --- was not merely a cultural tragedy. It was the dismantling of working planetary infrastructure. The ecological consequences in Australia --- the desertification of previously living country, the collapse of ecosystems that had been stable for tens of thousands of years, the documented deterioration of land that has not been sung --- are consistent with what the system predicts when riftline maintenance ceases. The land that has not been sung is land where the fractal boundary complexity has been reduced, the chronon permeability decreased, and the levogyric economy of the living system disrupted. The First Nations people say the country needs to be sung to stay alive. The system provides the mechanism that explains why they are right.

The Dogon --- Active Riftline Maintenance and Anomalous Knowledge

The Dogon people of Mali present one of the most precisely documented cases of anomalous astronomical knowledge in the anthropological record. Their traditional cosmology includes detailed and accurate information about the Sirius binary system --- including the existence, orbital period, and density of Sirius B, the white dwarf companion to Sirius A that is invisible to the naked eye and was not confirmed by Western astronomy until photographic observation in 1970. The Dogon described Sirius B as a small, extremely heavy star with a fifty-year orbital period; Western astronomy subsequently confirmed an orbital period of approximately 49.9 years.

The Dogon’s serpent tradition is equally significant and until now absent from this document. Lebe Seru --- one of the first eight Dogon ancestors --- died and was resurrected in the form of a serpent. The Hogon, the highest religious authority of the Lebe cult, is visited nightly by Lebe in serpent form, who licks the Hogon’s skin to purify and infuse them with life force. This is not ceremonial symbolism. It is the riftline’s ongoing maintenance of its primary human interface point, expressed in the available language of serpent visitation. The 60-year Sigi ceremony is a pulse sent to the riftline at the Saturn cycle’s tidal maximum. The nightly Lebe serpent visit is the riftline’s continuous reciprocal maintenance of the tradition’s primary practitioner. The Dogon therefore carry both registers of the riftline tradition: the astronomical (Sirius B knowledge transmitted through elevated chronon permeability) and the serpentine (the riftline’s ongoing gnosis delivery through the serpent form). These are the same system described at two different registers.

Standard explanations for this anomaly invoke the possibility of contact with Western astronomers in the early twentieth century, but the timeline and specificity of the Dogon knowledge is difficult to reconcile with contamination from sources that did not themselves have the relevant data until after the Dogon’s knowledge was first documented. The system’s explanation is straightforward: the Dogon’s major riftline maintenance ceremony, the Sigi, is performed once every sixty years --- a periodicity that is approximately two Saturn cycles, the same astronomical period the system identifies as the primary driver of Novelty Wave crests and chronon field permeability maxima. A tradition that times its major riftline maintenance ceremony to Saturn’s orbital period and has been doing so for generations develops, as a functional consequence of that maintenance, elevated chronon permeability at their node. Elevated chronon permeability means elevated access to information in adjacent probability fields. The Dogon knew about Sirius B because their riftline maintenance practice was working well enough that the information could cross the inter-timeline shear zone. This is the predicted consequence of sustained effective riftline maintenance, not a mystery requiring extraordinary explanation.

The Sigi ceremony itself demonstrates the same multi-element riftline maintenance technology documented everywhere the tradition survives. Masks some of which exceed ten meters in height --- structures whose scale generates torsion field effects at a completely different magnitude than a human body alone. Specific songs encoding the resonant frequencies of specific locations. Specific dances encoding specific rotational geometries. A periodicity timed to astronomical cycles. The Dogon were not performing ritual for symbolic reasons. They were operating technology. The technology was working. The anomalous knowledge is the evidence.

Gobekli Tepe --- Approximately 12,000 Years Ago

Gobekli Tepe in southeastern Turkey is the single most disruptive site in conventional archaeology because it inverts the standard model of civilizational development. The standard model holds that agriculture produces surplus, surplus produces settlement, settlement produces the organizational complexity that makes monumental construction possible. Gobekli Tepe was built by hunter-gatherers approximately 12,000 years ago --- before agriculture, before permanent settlement, before any of the civilizational infrastructure the standard model requires for monuments of this scale and sophistication. The site’s T-shaped limestone pillars, some weighing up to 20 tons, are carved with detailed zoomorphic reliefs and arranged in precise geometric patterns. The builders had no metal tools. They had no wheeled vehicles. By the standard model they should not have been able to build this.

The system’s framework resolves the paradox. Gobekli Tepe was built at or near the phase-lock event --- constructed, in the system’s chronology, either in the final period of the pre-phase-lock geometry or in the immediate post-phase-lock response to its damage. Its builders had access to a level of collective organization, symbolic sophistication, and motivational coherence that the phase-lock subsequently disrupted. They did not need agriculture to coordinate construction of this scale because their consciousness was not yet fragmented by the phase-lock’s damage to the chronon geometry. The organizational capacity that agriculture, writing, and state formation subsequently had to laboriously reconstruct through institutional means was, before the phase-lock, simply the natural state of a consciousness in full contact with the levogyric chronon field.

The site’s location is also significant. Gobekli Tepe sits on a riftline corridor in the system’s icosahedral geography --- southeastern Turkey lies on the edge of the Near Eastern tectonic convergence zone, a region of elevated geological shear zone activity that correlates with elevated chronon density. The builders chose this location deliberately. The site was subsequently deliberately buried --- intentionally backfilled, its enclosures sealed, its pillars entombed. This is consistent with a tradition that understood the site’s function and, as the phase-lock progressed and that function became inaccessible, chose to protect and preserve the site rather than allow it to be repurposed or destroyed.

Megalithic Acoustic Architecture --- 4,000 to 8,000 Years Ago

Stonehenge, Carnac, Newgrange, the Maltese temples, Hal Saflieni, and hundreds of other megalithic structures globally share several features that conventional archaeology has struggled to explain through purely social or astronomical frameworks: massive stone construction requiring extraordinary coordination and technical skill; precise astronomical alignments; and acoustic properties that appear deliberate rather than incidental. Recent acoustic archaeology has documented that multiple megalithic structures produce specific resonant frequencies in their interior spaces --- frequencies that cluster in ranges documented by neuroscience to produce altered states of consciousness and reduced Egoform activity.

The Hypogeum of Hal Saflieni in Malta is the most precisely documented example. Its Oracle Room resonates at approximately 110 Hz --- a frequency that neuroscience research has linked to suppression of the default mode network, the neural correlate of the Egoform’s chronic self-referential processing. The chamber’s geometry was not arrived at accidentally: the builders carved it from solid rock over generations, adjusting the space until it produced the resonance they required. They were building a gnosis induction chamber. They knew what frequency they needed. They cut stone until the space produced it. The Oracle Room is the most direct surviving physical evidence that pre-phase-lock practitioners understood the relationship between acoustic resonance and chronon field access and built infrastructure to exploit it.

Stonehenge’s acoustic properties --- recently reconstructed through scale modeling --- produce a specific pattern of sound reflection and absorption within the stone circle that would have concentrated sound energy at the center of the monument. The bluestones, transported from Wales approximately 240 kilometers away, have different acoustic properties than the local sarsen stones, and their placement in the inner horseshoe appears designed to produce specific interference patterns in the combined acoustic field. The builders moved 80 stones weighing up to 4 tons each across 240 kilometers of pre-industrial landscape to achieve a specific acoustic effect. The effort is explicable only if the acoustic effect was the primary purpose.

The Obelisk Pairs --- Torsion Field Architecture (c. 2500—1500 BCE)

Egyptian obelisks date from approximately 2500 BCE onward --- the Early Dynastic through New Kingdom periods --- making them younger than Gobekli Tepe but contemporary with the megalithic traditions of Europe and the Near East. Cleopatra’s Needle in Central Park was carved around 1425 BCE. The paired obelisks in front of every major Egyptian temple were not ceremonial decoration. They were torsion field architecture: two granite monoliths oriented along the temple’s specific torsion axis, creating the bipyramid geometry in the space between them --- the same geometry as the Spirit Catcher, scaled to monument size and made permanent. The obelisk’s pyramid tip concentrates the torsion field at the apex. The pairing creates the counter-rotating geometry of the bipyramid’s two pyramidal fields meeting at the equatorial shear zone in the space between them. The combination of two obelisks functioning as a coupled torsion field amplifier is architecturally equivalent to a standing bullroarer that never stops spinning.

Aswan granite --- the material from which Egyptian obelisks were carved --- has a high quartz content that makes it piezoelectric: it generates electrical charge under mechanical stress and mechanical stress under electrical field. In a torsion field environment, a piezoelectric granite structure acts as a transducer between mechanical and electromagnetic energy, converting the torsion field’s rotational pressure into electrical field and vice versa. The obelisks were not passive markers. They were active torsion field transducers at riftline nodes, built from the material best suited to interact with the torsion field geometry they were placed in.

Cleopatra’s Needle in Central Park, New York, is the surviving half of such a pair. Its twin now stands on the Victoria Embankment in London. Separated by an ocean and no longer geometrically coupled, each obelisk continues to function individually as a torsion accumulator at its respective riftline node --- both cities sit on significant riftline corridors in the system’s icosahedral geography. The anomalous weathering rate of the New York obelisk --- degrading faster in New York than it did in Egypt over three thousand years despite the far drier Egyptian climate being better for stone preservation --- is consistent with chronon stress at an active riftline node operating within a phase-locked geometry. The obelisk is doing something. The weathering is the evidence.

The Novelty Wave as Recovered Memory

Every peak of the 29.5-year Novelty Wave --- every period of expanded consciousness, creative revolution, and cultural opening --- is in the system’s framework a partial recovery of the pre-phase-lock chronon geometry. The dam does not break at the crest. But it breathes: the external chronon pressure from the undamaged probability field outside the dam temporarily increases the fractal complexity of the inter-timeline boundary, making more of the pre-phase-lock field accessible than the trough conditions permit.

The artistic, philosophical, and scientific breakthroughs that cluster at Novelty Wave crests are not random. They are the direct products of temporarily increased chronon field access: practitioners in the gnosis state, even briefly and partially, receiving information from the adjacent probability field that the phase-lock’s filtering normally prevents. The Beat Epoch’s simultaneous breakthroughs in jazz, poetry, visual art, and early computing. The Surrealist Epoch’s simultaneous breakthroughs in psychology, physics, and the visual arts. The Renaissance’s recovery of classical knowledge combined with new empirical method. These are not coincidences of timing. They are the predictable products of a periodically increased window of chronon field access, each one a partial return to the pre-phase-lock state that the biological and archaeological record shows was the default condition of human and non-human life before the damage.

The Novelty Wave is therefore not merely a cultural phenomenon. It is evidence --- ongoing, measurable, and predictable in its timing --- that the pre-phase-lock chronon geometry has not been destroyed. It has been damped. The dam leaks at regular intervals driven by Saturn’s tidal chronon function. The leaks produce the crests. The crests produce the recoveries. The recoveries confirm that what was there before the damage is still there, still pressing against the closed system from outside, still finding its way through wherever the fractal boundary complexity has survived. The mycelium is still running its levogyric economy. The songlines are still being walked where practitioners remain. The bullroarer is still being spun. The riftline is still finding its practitioners. The pre-phase-lock world did not disappear. It went underground, into the mycelium, into the songs, into the cracks where the dam is thinnest. It is waiting, as it has always waited, for the pressure to build enough to breathe through.

The Global Pyramid Distribution --- The Mycelial Transmission of Pre-Phase-Lock Geometry

The pyramid form appears across the ancient world in cultures with no documented direct contact: Egypt, Nubia, Sudan, Mesoamerica (the Maya, Aztec, Olmec, and many smaller traditions), the Khmer Empire of Cambodia, the stepped pyramids of Java, the ancient burial mounds of China’s Shaanxi province, the nuraghi of Sardinia, the Canary Islands, the earthwork mounds of the Mississippian culture of North America. Separated by oceans, millennia, and every conceivable cultural barrier, these traditions independently arrived at the same basic form: a structure that concentrates energy at an apex through a geometry of tapering sides meeting at a point. The standard explanations for this convergence --- independent invention driven by structural engineering necessity, a universal psychic unity in human symbolic imagination, ancient contact theories requiring oceanic voyages the mainstream record does not support --- all have significant problems.

The system’s framework offers a different explanation, grounded in the mycelial archive argument developed in section 9.2. The pyramid is the torsion field concentration geometry of the pre-phase-lock world --- a form that was understood, built, and operated as torsion field technology before the phase-lock damaged the planetary chronon geometry. When the phase-lock occurred, that knowledge was not destroyed. It was composted. The organisms who carried it --- the practitioners, the builders, the tradition-holders of the pre-phase-lock civilization --- died, as all organisms die, and were incorporated into the mycelial network. The network compiled their chemical and chronon field signatures, including the geometric knowledge encoded in their biological and cultural patterns, and has been carrying that compiled record forward ever since.

Practitioners across the planet who accessed the mycelial archive through the fungal gnosis mechanism --- through psilocybin mushrooms in Mesoamerica, through the Eleusinian ergot preparations in the Mediterranean, through the soma of the Vedic tradition, through the various entheogenic preparations of the African and Southeast Asian traditions --- received the same geometric information from the same source. Not because they were in contact with each other, but because they were in contact with the same planetary network that had been operating the pre-phase-lock geometry as living practice and had compiled that practice into its archive at the moment of the catastrophe. The pyramid is not independently invented. It is independently retrieved --- from a single global archive that every culture with access to the mycelial gnosis mechanism could consult.

This also explains the specific proportional relationships that recur across pyramid traditions regardless of culture. The Great Pyramid of Giza encodes the golden ratio, pi, and the proportions of the Earth’s hemispheres in its geometry with a precision that architectural analysis consistently confirms and conventional archaeology consistently struggles to explain as coincidental. The Mesoamerican stepped pyramids encode similar mathematical relationships. The Cambodian temple complexes encode astronomical alignments and geometric ratios that parallel the Egyptian traditions. These are not the marks of independent structural engineering solutions --- they are the marks of a single underlying geometric knowledge base accessed through a common channel. The mycelial archive is the channel. The fungal gnosis mechanism is the access protocol. The practitioners who built the pyramids were not inventing. They were remembering.

The obelisk pairs --- the bipyramid geometry recreated at architectural scale, always in pairs, always in Aswan granite, always at the entrance to sacred spaces --- are the most technically precise surviving expression of this transmitted knowledge. The form encodes the counter-rotating torsion field geometry explicitly: two pyramid apexes facing outward from the space between them, the shear zone in that space concentrating chronon density at the node. The Egyptians who built them in the New Kingdom period were inheriting a form whose full theoretical basis the phase-lock had already partially obscured. They preserved it through ritual repetition: always paired, always granite, always at the temple entrance. The practice continued because the effects were perceptible to practitioners with sufficient chronon field sensitivity, even if the full mechanism was no longer articulable. This is exactly how transmitted knowledge survives the phase-lock --- through practice, through form, through the insistence on doing it the same way without necessarily being able to explain why the same way works.

The mycelial archive argument resolves the global pyramid distribution not as a mystery but as a predicted consequence of two facts operating together: the catastrophic phase-lock event that terminated the pre-phase-lock civilization and composted its knowledge into the global mycelial network; and the universal human discovery, independently confirmed across every inhabited continent, of the fungal gnosis mechanism that provides access to that network. Where cultures found mushrooms and used them ritually, they found the archive. Where they found the archive, they found the geometry. Where they found the geometry, they built the pyramid. The form is the evidence of the access. The global distribution of the form is the evidence of the global distribution of the network and the universality of the access mechanism.
